Over 6,500 people booked for violence in Jammu and Kashmir in 2010, says government source
J&K govt says cases have been registered against 6,563 people in 2010 summer unrest claiming lives and injurering of over 100 persons.

"FIRs were registered against 6,563 persons, out of whom the FIRs have been withdrawn in respect of 1,811 persons," Minister of state for Home Sajad Kitchloo said in a written reply in the state Assembly here.
Replying to the question of PDP MLA A R Veeri, the Minister said 114 civilians, who were part of violent mobs, have lost their lives in the Valley from 2009 to July this year while 20 others died due to other reasons.
"Since 2009 till ending July, 114 civilians have lost their lives in the Valley who were part of violent mobs or protests during the engagements between protesters and the deployment on ground. In addition, 20 persons lost their lives due to various law and order disturbances including stone pelting, stampede, blast or drowning," the Minister said.
He said four magisterial inquiries were ordered by the Government during the period out of which three have been finalised while one is in progress.
