There has been an increase in representation of minorities in government jobs during the past three years, Jitendra Singh said.

NEW DELHI: 39,114 minority youths have been provided employment opportunities under the Centre's placement-linked development schemes over the past three years, Lok Sabha was informed today.

Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, in a written reply on number of youths receiving employment opportunities under central schemes, said out of the total 40,210 people trained under 'Seekho aur Kamao' (Learn and Earn) initiative, 30,711 were given jobs between 2013-14 and 2014-15.

Through the Maulana Azad National Academy for Skills, formed to offer sustainable livelihood options in terms of self and wage employment opportunities, 8403 youths got jobs between 2014-15 and 2015-16, said Naqvi, Minister of State for Minority Affairs.

In addition to this, the ministry has launched two new schemes 'Upgrading the Skills and Training Traditional Arts/Crafts for Development' and 'Nai Manzil' to enable minority youths to take up jobs.
