Our government is strong and stable- Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio

Neiphiu Rio assured the North eastern states that they have nothing to fear and their interest will not be hampered by the solution to Naga political problem.

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio said, “Nationalist Democratic People’s Party (NDPP) had pre poll alliance with BJP.
GUWAHATI: With opposition, Naga Peoples Front (NPF) announcing that it will stake claim to form government in Nagaland for it was the single largest party, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio stated that government is stable and strong and commands majority voter share together with its allies.

Rio while speaking at the meeting of North East Democratic Alliance meeting in Guwahati on Sunday said after Karnataka, opposition is making loud voices and claming to form government.

He said, “Nationalist Democratic People’s Party (NDPP) had pre poll alliance with BJP, we even had seat sharing understanding. Together with our allies we command over 52.44 per cent vote share while NPF just had 38.69 percent.”


He said that government is however stable and strong.

Former Chief Minister, T R Zeliang had stated, “NPF party will stake claim before the Governor to form the government on the merit of our case as being the single largest party. Why should different laws be applied in different states on a same matter?”

NPF had won 27 seats in the Assembly election.

Rio said Prime minister, Narendra Modi is sincere about solving the Naga political issue. “Ceasefire and dialogue is going on for last 21 years. Framework agreement was inked in 2015.”

Rio assured the North eastern states that they have nothing to fear and their interest will not be hampered by the solution to Naga political problem.

There is apprehension in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur that these states have to part with some territory if Naga political solution is resolved.

Greater Nagalim is NSCN-IM’s core demand. Greater Nagalim stipulates integration of Naga inhabited areas of Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar.
