KOCHI: The Orthodox faction on Sunday observed a symbolic protest against government's decision, which allowed Catholicos Thomas I Bava and nine Metropolitans to enter Thrikkunnathu seminary church at nearby Aluva on Friday.

The protest was observed in all Orthodox churches after the holy mass, where resolutions were also read.

The action of the government and district administration was a betrayal and it was a unilateral decision, orthodox faction sources said.

Amidst strong protest of Orthodox faction, Catholicos Thomas-I Bava and nine Metropolitans of Jacobite church offered prayers at the tomb of Metropolitan Mar Athanasios at Thrikunnath St' Marys church.

Ernakulam District Collector had impossed prohibitory orders in one km radious of the church, which is the bone of contention between the two factions of Malankara church- Jacobite Cyrian and Orthodox for four decades.

The church has been lying closed for over 30 years.
