OROP: Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel says PM has delivered on his promise

AHMEDABAD: Hailing the announcement of implementation of One Rank One Pension ( OROP) scheme, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today said here that the Prime Minister has delivered on his promise.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has delivered on his promise, this is a great step to honour our military veterans," Patel said on twitter after the decision on OROP was announced today by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

"I congratulate PM Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for the commendable breakthrough by approving and implementing OROP concept," Patel said.

Parrikar earlier today announced that OROP, which implies uniform pension for armed forces personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, would be implemented from July 1, 2014, on the basis of calender year 2013.
