Orissa Cabinet recommends for dissolution of Assembly
The cabinet headed by Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday recommended for dissolution of the 13th State Legislative Assembly, the term of which expires on Friday.
The decision of the meeting held at the secretariat here was sent to Governor Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandrare for his assent.
Constituted on May 15, the 13th Orissa Legislative Assembly was marked by more pandemonium over alleged scams in mining leases, killing of tribals in police firing, suicide by farmers, failure of law and order situation, murder of Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati and sectarian violence in Kandhamal district.
Elections for the 14th Legislative Assembly were held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha in two phases on April 16 and April 23.
Counting of the votes will take place Saturday.
