After their disagreements with Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar intensified, many Opposition parties of the INDIA bloc began discussions on Monday to give a notice for the "resolution for the removal" of the chairman.

Opposition leaders said they would gather on Tuesday to decide after seeking approval from their party leaders.

If admitted, the resolution under Article 67(B) of the Constitution with a 14-day notice would require a majority in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha to remove the chairman, which is difficult for the Opposition given their number limitation. However, the Congress and other sponsors seem to believe that announcing the resolution will help unite the INDIA bloc, which is currently split in the two houses.
