Opposition Unity Summit on Madhu Limaye birth anniversary
NEW DELHI: Opposition parties will hold a show of unity on May 1. The conclave will have representation from Congress, NCP, JDU, SP, RJD, RLD, CPM, CPI and JDS and will see parties calling for unity against BJP and the Modi government, organisers said. May 1 is the birth anniversary of Madhu Limaye, one of the most articulate exponents of anti-Congress politics, after Ram Manohar Lohia.

By inviting Congress for Limaye’s anniversary, ‘Samajwadi Parivar’ organisers have advertised the end of ‘anti-Congressism' and beginning of ‘anti-BJPism’ as the new Opposition plank. The Congress leadership has confirmed to the organisers participation of AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh in the conclave.

May 1 being International Labour Day, the conclave will also see various Opposition parties questioning whether policies of the NDA regime have been helpful to farmers, workers and the common man. Sharad Yadav, Ajit Singh, Sitaram Yechury and D Raja too have confirmed their participation.
