Opposition disrupts proceedings in Uttar Pradesh Assembly

LUCKNOW: The budget session of the UP Assembly got off to a stormy start with the Opposition parties cornering the Akhilesh Yadav government for its failure on the law and order front. The Opposition trooped into the well of the House on several occasions, leading to adjournment of the proceedings for the day.

Fresh from its success in the recent Lok Sabah polls, the BJP took the lead in slamming the Samajwadi Party government. Its MLAs, led by state President Laxmikant Bajpai, squatted in the gallery that led to the chair of the Speaker, Mata Prasad Pandey, before the house proceedings could start.

Later the entire Opposition, including BSP, Congress, BJP and RLD, rushed into the well of the house raising slogans against the Akhilesh government. The BSP members wore blue caps with slogans slamming the government and demanding Presidents Rule in the state. Some even brought in placards and waived it at the Speaker and Chief Minister.
