JAMMU: Opposition National Conference and Congress today disrupted the proceedings of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council over state government's "poor" response in dealing with the flood situation in the state.

As the House assembled for the day, the members of National Conference and Congress stood up and blamed the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed-led government for its "poor" response in dealing with the flood like situation in Kashmir Valley and "failing to save lives".

Seeking a reply from the government over the issue and also a debate in the House, the members walked to the entrance of the Well and displayed placards against the state government.

Minister for Haj and Auqaf Abdul Rehman Veeri countered the Opposition's charges by saying that the government took immediate measures and the chief minister and other ministers were on the ground, monitoring the situation.

Unsatisfied by the reply, the members protested and asked for a debate in the House over the issue.

Acting Chairman of the Legislative Council Jehngir Mir asked members to take their seats as discussions will be held on the issue after the question hour.
