Even as Congress leaders and workers in many states tried to observe the All India Congress Committee (AICC)-proposed 'Kisan Vijay Diwas' (farmers' victory day) on Saturday to mark the prime minister's announcement of repeal of the three farm laws, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president of election-bound Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu, landed himself in yet another controversy with his advocacy of closer ties with Pakistan and show of friendship with "brother Imran Khan", triggering criticism even from within the Congress.

When Kartarpur Corridor Project Management Unit CEO Muhammad Latif welcomed the former Test cricketer at the zero point and extended best wishes to him and his delegation on behalf of Prime Minister Imran Khan, former cricketer-turned-PCC chief Sidhu said, "Imran Khan is my elder brother. I am greatly honoured. "

Even as BJP leaders started criticising Sidhu for what they termed his "love" for Pakistan and Imran Khan, came an attack on him from within the Congress through party MP Manish Tewari. "@ImranKhanPTI may be anybody's elder brother but for India he is that cat's paw of Pak Deep State ISI-military combine..." Tewari tweeted.
