NEW DELHI: Opposition members in the Lok Sabha today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reported electoral promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh in every account when Indian black money stashed abroad is brought back, wondering when the promise will be fulfilled.

During the discussion on the bill to curb blackmoney, some Opposition members also hit out at BJP President Amit Shah for his remarks that what Modi had said during election rallies was an "electoral gimmick".

Whenever an Opposition member raised the remarks of Modi that every account holder will get Rs 15 lakh from the black money recovered from abroad, BJP members were quick to reject it saying "who said it. He never said so."

Tariq Anwar (NCP), Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav (RJD), Kaushalendra Kumar (JD-U), Kalyan Banerjee (TMC) and P Kumar (AIADMK) had raised the issue of Modi's reported remarks and Amit Shah's reaction.

A Sampath (CPI-M) said instead of black money, it should be called "bad" money as it is generated illegally.

"I do not like the term black money...I am a little bit black...so are you," he said referring to P Venugopal who was chairing the proceedings.
