Oppn heading for crushing defeat again in 2029 elections, says Amit Shah
Amit Shah criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for engaging in negative politics and losing elections consistently. He expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance will secure a significant victory in the upcoming 2029 elections. ...

Shah said the kind of "negative politics" Congress has been engaged in will not benefit it as the Opposition party needs to understand people and connect with the public. "I want to tell Rahulji and his associates to prepare themselves once again for a crushing defeat in 2029. In 2029 general elections, NDA is going to win with a resounding majority, and Congress is going to face defeat for the fourth consecutive time."
Slamming Gandhi, Shah said people of India know his plans of "getting infiltrators registered as voters...I want to ask Rahul Gandhiji directly: Is this the result of SIR? SIR started only after 2024."
"Ever since you became the principal leader of Congress, and later its president, and now Leader of the Opposition, Congress party has continuously lost elections. You need to engage in introspections. You cannot win the trust of people through fabricated media events and lies," he said.
Earlier, senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal, at a joint press conference with JDU leader and his Cabinet colleague Rajiv Ranjan invoked the Gen Z phrase "delulu is the solulu" to mock Gandhi and called the Congress leader's conduct "childish".
Goyal accused the Opposition of undermining constitutional institutions and said the government was ready for a parliamentary debate on electoral issues and dismissed Gandhi's "vote chori" charge as baseless and asserted that the Modi government had given the Election Commission complete autonomy to function in the interests of the country and its people.
He accused the Congress of rewarding former CECs with political appointments, alleging that one was given a Cabinet berth and two others were made governors during its rule. Singh accused Congress of harming democracy and constitutional institutions through protests based on what he called baseless allegations.
"Rahulji, do some introspection and meditation. Do some positive work if some good sense prevails upon you by the grace of God. Democracy cannot function with such negative politics and drama," he said, urging the Opposition not to pressure or discredit constitutional bodies.
Drawing a parallel with the Emergency in 1975, Singh accused Gandhi of following in the footsteps of his grandmother, former PM Indira Gandhi, alleging that she had undermined the Constitution to retain power.
