A series of tweets by a BJP leader in Maharashtra, claiming that a very 'big' Nationalist Congress Party leader would soon land in prison, has created a political stir in the state.

Opposition parties alleged that the tweets by Mohit Kamboj, who is known to be close to deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, were meant to pressurise them to bail out the "shaky Shinde government".

In his tweets late night on Tuesday, Kamboj said his earlier predictions about the arrest of the then NCP minister Nawab Malik, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut and former Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey had been proven true and that he had a "100% strike rate".

While he did not name the NCP leader in question, Kamboj said the irrigation scam which was closed in 2019 by the then Anti-Corruption Bureau chief Parambir Singh should be reinvestigated. NCP leader Ajit Pawar had got a clean chit in the ACB case in 2019. Kamboj later said he would soon hold a press conference and reveal details of all the benami properties of this NCP leader, both in India and abroad.

Sources said the BJP, which has the home portfolio, was hinting that the party would soon have cases against Ajit Pawar reopened.
