NEW DELHI: The opinion polls for this year's state assembly polls have started coming in on Friday.

According to the India TV-CVoter opinion polls for West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) is going to retain power in the state despite the Left making a signifact gain in terms vote share from the last assembly election in 2011. However, Congress's alliance with the Left is not helping the party much as its vote share seems to have dipped since 2011.

The TMC is projected to get 40 per cent of the popular votes while the Left, led by the CPM, will get 31 per cent. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which campaigned aggressively in the state to make a dent, is expected to get 4 seats with a vote share of 11 per cent.

According to the India TV-CVoter opinion polls, the following are the number of the seats the parties are expected to win in the 2016 assembly election in the state:



Trinamool Congress: 160

Congress: 21
BJP: 4
Others: 3
