Only BJP can free Assam from illegal immigration: Amit Shah
Shah on Sunday promised to stop illegal immigration of Bangladeshis into Assam and provide all support to Hindus who came to India due to religious persecution.

The Congress ’ vote bank politics has come in the way of stopping the influx from Bangladesh, he said. “Bangladeshi infiltrators have taken away everything …The Congress will not do it (stop them) as they will be exposed. It is with support of illegal immigrants that the Congress forms its government,” he said. Shah’s statements on Sunday are seen towards setting the stage for the party’s campaign for next year’s assembly elections in Assam. The BJP chief was in Guwahati as part of a 10-day tour of the Northeast.
The state government had last year asked the Centre to frame a policy to give asylum to people who have fled religious persecution and taken refuge in India during partition. He said the burden of supporting Hindus, who came to India because of harassment, will be shared by the entire nation.
