ONGC gives Rs 22 lakh for repair of cyclone shelters
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) today handed over a cheque of Rs 21.90 lakh to the East Godavari District administration for repair and maintenance of 17 cyclone shelters in the district.
P Krishna Rao, Group General-Manager, ONGC Rajahmundry Asset, handed over the cheque to Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad at the Collectorate, the PSU said in a release here.
In 2012-13, ONGC Rajahmundry had spent around Rs 4.50 crore under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with a with a thrust on education, health, culture and women empowerment, informed Rao.
The cyclone shelters have been set up in Katrenikona, Polavaram, Gannavaram, Mamidikuduru, Allavaram, Uppalaguptam and Malikpuram Mandals of the district.
The Collector had requested for funds for repair and maintenance of 17 cyclone shelters in the district and the ONGC responded positively, the release added.
