One killed and eight injured in Guwahati bomb blast

One central reserve police force (CRPF) jawan has died and another eight persons were injured on Saturday in the busy Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati.

GUWAHATI: After almost six month a grenade explosion took place in Guwahati. One central reserve police force (CRPF) jawan has died and another eight persons were injured on Saturday in the busy Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati.

The explosion took place near Paltan Bazar police station. Police sources said that grenade was lobbed by the two motorcycle borne youths.

Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (metro) A. Agnihotri said targeting security forces is old modius oprandi. "We had intelligence inputs."

He added, "We will not say now as to who is behind the attack .This is a matter of investigation."
