One killed, 34 hurt in Assam blasts

One bomb accidentally exploded at Uchamati area at Doomdooma and the other blast took place near an electric transformer in Devipukhuri Tinali in Tinsukia town.

TINSUKIA: At least one person was killed and 34 injured in twin bomb blasts by ULFA militants in this district of Assam on Sunday evening.

Official sources said one ULFA militant was killed and 15 others injured when the bomb he was carrying on a motorcycle accidentally exploded at Uchamati area at Doomdooma.

In the second blast near an electric transformer near Devipukhuri Tinali in Tinsukia town at around 5.45 pm, 19 people were injured, three of them seriously.

The injured were admitted to hospital, the sources said. Senior police and civil officials rushed to the site of the blasts.
