BURDWAN: Clashes between rival political parties left one dead and 13 injured in two districts of West Bengal today.

CPI(M) workers attacked a procession of the Trinamool Congress at Chetna village in the Galsi police station area, Superintendent of Police S M H Mirza said.

Mirzha said that one person, Madan Soren, belonging to the CPI(M) was killed and 12 others were injured in the clash in which bombs and arrows were used.

Of the 12 injured seven belonged to the TMC and five to the CPI(M).

Four TMC workers with arrow wounds were hospitalised. While in Malda district, a girl was injured after being caught in the midst of a clash between the CPI(M) and Congress at Balupur Khojkhama village.

Bombs were used during the clash and two houses each of the CPI(M) and Congress were ransacked and torched, Superintendent of Police Kalyan Mukherjee said.

All the men in the village fled after the clash and none could be arrested, he added.
