One candidate withdraws, eight in fray for Kairana assembly bypolls

MUZAFFARNAGAR: An independent candidate for the Kairana assembly bypoll has withdrawn from the contest, with only eight candidates now remaining in the fray.

Independent candidate Sima Hasan withdrew her nomination papers yesterday with only eight candidates remaining who will now contest the bypolls, Returning Officer said.

The eight candidates in the fray include Anil Chouhan of BJP, Arshad Hasan of Congress, Nahid Hasan of SP with five other contesting independently.

The polling for the seat would be held on October 15.
