Omita Paul appointed FM's advisor

Paul, a retired Indian Information Service official of the 1973 batch, will hold the rank of a Secretary, the release said.

NEW DELHI: Omita Paul, a retired Information service official, has been appointed adviser to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee for a period of three years.

"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Omita Paul ...as Adviser to the Finance Minister...for a period of three years or until further orders," a release said.

Paul, a retired Indian Information Service official of the 1973 batch, will hold the rank of a Secretary, the release said.

Till recently she was Information Commisisoner in the Central Information Commission.

Paul took voluntary retirement in 2002 and had joined the policy research organisation, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development, Delhi.
