Omar's comment on J-K ruling coalition immature: PDP
SRINAGAR: The ruling Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) today termed National Conference leader Omar Abdullah's statement that its coalition government had lost people's confidence as "immature" and said it shows lack of political understanding on part of the Opposition party.

"The Opposition leader has made immature comments about the present coalition having lost the confidence of people and it having the prospects of sweeping the next elections. This only shows the complete lack of political understanding and maturity," PDP chief spokesperson Mehboob Beg said here.

It was for the people and not the Opposition to decide as to who was best suited to govern the state, he said.

"The people of Jammu and Kashmir have given a mandate to the present coalition and its performance will be judged by the people after it completes its full term in office," the spokesperson said.

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had yesterday said, the PDP-BJP coalition had "lost" peoples' mandate due to its "vision-less policies, misgovernance and leadership deficit".

The candidates of both the parties were destined to lose their deposits in the event of by-polls, he had said.

"If elections were held now, National Conference will form the government on its own, without crutches of others," Omar had said while addressing a public rally at Ramban in Jammu region.

He also alleged that the state was "suffering" due to uncertainty over PDP's leadership and the administration was in a dilemma as to who was in "real command", whether it was Mufti Mohammed Sayeed or Mehbooba Mufti.

Responding to Omar, the PDP spokesperson said, the Opposition leader would do well to realise that Mehbooba Mufti was not only the President of the party but also an MP and was well within her rights to point out and address the problems being faced by the people.

"Mehbooba listens to the grievances of the people and asserts herself where needed. It is strange that the Opposition is trying to find faults with this. It seems they do not understand a democratic set-up," Beg added.
