Omar escapes unhurt in grenade attack
Militants on Monday fired two grenades at a house where National Conference President Omar Abdullah was present in Kupwara district but these exploded 200-300 metres away injuring four security personnel.

SRINAGAR: Militants on Monday fired two grenades at a house where National Conference President Omar Abdullah was present in Kupwara district but these exploded 200-300 metres away injuring four security personnel.
The attack came 15 minutes after he addressed a rally in Handwara town and was having tea at the house of a senior party worker at Kraligund in Handwara town this afternoon, Abdullah said.
He said he heard huge blasts while having tea and later came to know that two rifle-fired grenades had exploded about 200-300 metres away.
The grenades wounded three CRPF personnel and SPO Fayaz Ahmad.
Abdullah, however, said these incidents were "professional hazards".
The entire area was cordoned off by the police assisted by security forces and a hunt has been launched to nab the militants involved in the attack, they said.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
