JAMMU: BJP today accused Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of seeking "unwarranted mileage" by commenting on the Maoist attack in Chattisgarh and said he should first make his stand clear on withdrawal of the AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir.

"The Chief Minister would do well to first make his stand clear on security management in his own state and on withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from certain areas in JK," BJP state chief spokesperson and national executive member Jitendra Singh told reporters here.

"Omar was seeking unwarranted mileage by making hasty, judgemental and politically loaded comments on the Maoist attack in Chattisgarh," he said.

Replying to a question on security lapses, Omar had yesterday told reporters here, "Because there was a former Chief Minister, elected representatives, PCC president...In this situation, if such an attack takes place, it is evident that there were lapses in the (security) preparation on ground".

Singh also took exception to the Chief Minister's remarks as to why the Opposition was not demanding resignations over the IPL scandal and said, Omar must first start by seeking resignation of the National Conference and Congress leaders on the panel of ( Board of Cricket Control in India) BCCI.
