The government today raised excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.25 and Rs 1 a liter respectively.

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the drop in international oil prices has not benefited the consumers as the Centre has imposed hike in excise duty.

"International oil prices dip but the consumer does not benefit because this NDA govt hikes taxes by an even greater amount," Omar wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The government today raised excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 2.25 and Rs 1 a liter respectively.
