Omar Abdullah calls Gurdaspur attack 'eerily similar' to past Jammu attacks
SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that the timing and methodology of the Gurdaspur terror attack was "eerily similar" to the past incidents in Jammu region.

In a series of tweets, Omar wrote, "will be very interested to see what emerges about the identity of the terrorists involved in the Gurdaspur attack this morning. The timing of the attack, methodology & location are all eerily similar to attacks in the border belt of Jammu."

The working president of opposition National Conference also expressed concern over the safety of the cops who took on the terrorists in Gurdaspur.

"Where the heck are the bulletproof jackets & helmets? Their knees are better protected than their heads & chests!" he said Omar lauded the decision to rush a SWAT team from Jammu and Kashmir to assist the local cops in dealing with the situation in Gurdaspur.

"Corrected - No police force has AS much experience with these sorts of encounters. Good step," he said.

Talking to reporters here, the former Chief Minister said while maintaining security along the borders was the Centre's responsibility, the chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab should also coordinate with each other on these issues.
