Olympic torch arrives in San Francisco amid tight security
The Olympic torch has touched down for its only North American stop in San Francisco, where security concerns over the flame are high.
San Francisco Olympic Torch Relay Committee spokesman David Perry said the flame arrived shortly before 4 a.m. (1100 GMT) Tuesday and that it will be driven to an undisclosed location in San Francisco.
Demonstrations are planned in the city opposing China's policies toward Tibet, Sudan and Myanmar. Activists Monday scaled the Golden Gate Bridge to protest the torch's impending arrival.
But no protesters were seen at the airport at the time of the torch's landing Tuesday.
