Olympic medalist Vijender booked over emblem row
Printing the national emblem on the invitation card of his marriage reception has put Indian boxing star and Olympic medalist Vijender Singh in a tight spot.
A Delhi-based man Abhishek Kadyan lodged the complaint on the basis of media reports about printing of the national emblem on the card.
The invitation for the reception, which was organized on May 18 at his native Kaluwas village in Bhiwani, carried the emblem on it. It took the police over one month to take action on the complaint.
Sainvi said that an FIR under Section 3 of the National Emblem and Names Act (prevention of improper use), 1950 has been filed with the Bhiwani Sadar police station against Vijender, his family members and the printer.
Police sources said that the FIR number 280 was registered on Wednesday which named Vijender, his family members and printer in it. The SP said that they would take action on the directions of the court.
