The Centre has engaged professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for designing a training module on cybersecurity for government officials, said people aware of the matter. An agreement to this effect was signed in January, they said.

The development comes amid a spurt in cyberattacks, particularly from China. Law enforcement agencies have reported an increase in cases of data theft as well as cyberterrorism.

Union home ministry officials said the course being designed by PwC will be available online at the National Cyber Crime Training Centre (NCTC), under the ministry. It can be pursued by all stakeholders including judges, prosecutors, and police and state government officials.

ET’s query to the home ministry spokesperson on the duration, content and cost of the module remained unanswered till press time.

NCTC was launched by the home ministry in March last year as part of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination (I4C) project.
