While PCCs of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Gujarat have already backed Rahul, more party units, including that of Haryana, Assam and Himachal Pradesh, are set to do so in a competitive show of loyalty to the Gandhi family. These PCCs are also passing resolutions, authorising the incoming Congress president to nominate the PCC chiefs and AICC delegates.
The "we want Rahul Ji" resolutions are gaining speed as the nominations for filing the party president's elections would open from September 24 to 30. No PCCs, so far, has made an appeal for making Priyanka Gandhi Vadra the party president, something that is being seen in the Congress circles as a meltdown of Vadra's rating after she led the UP Congress to its worst electoral rout in the recent Assembly polls alongside her decision to push for Navjot Singh Sidhu's elevation as Punjab PCC chief.
Meanwhile, some Congress leaders said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who has returned from a trip abroad, could soon join the Rahul Gandhi-led padayatra for a few days.
