Odisha government constitutes task force after Similipal forest fire incident

A huge fire had broken out in Odisha's Similipal Tiger Reserve in February. The fire has largely been contained without any loss of life.

The Similipal forest fire incident has triggered a response from the Odisha government which has now constituted a task force to review forest fires in the state and suggest containment measures, IANS reported.

A huge fire had broken out in Odisha's Similipal Tiger Reserve in February. The fire has largely been contained without any loss of life.

The task force will suggest measures to further strengthen the mechanism for fire containment in forests.


The nine-member task force will be headed by former principal chief conservator of forest (PCCF) Sandeep Tripathi.
