CHENNAI: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has greeted his Tamil Nadu counterpart J Jayalalithaa on her assuming office for the fifth time.

"Many many congratulations to you on your assumption of the Office of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. I hope your state will continue its journey on the path of progress under your able leadership," he said in a letter dated May 25.

Tamil Nadu government released Patnaik's letter today.

Jayalalithaa, who was on May 11 acquitted of all charges in the disproportionate assets case by the Karnataka High Court, sworn in as the Chief Minister on May 23.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, among others, had greeted her on her assuming office for the fifth time in the state.
