Obama's gaffe: calls PM Modi 'President'
NEW YORK: In a gaffe, US President Barack Obama referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "President" in his remarks after their bilateral meeting.

The slip of tongue was recorded in the first White House transcript of his remarks but later it was re-issued, correcting the "President" to "Prime Minister".

The gaffe happened when Obama was making his remarks after talks with Prime Minister Modi here yesterday.

Obama said, "We are encouraged by the aggressive nature of 'President' (Prime Minister) Modi's commitment to clean energy."

The White House later issued a corrected transcript but the video available on the White House website shows Obama making the gaffe.
