Obama, McCain get an e-link to voters

Both have extensively used business networking sites to propogate agenda.

MUMBAI: If the world of one-to-one communication does indeed exist, the battle for the US presidency is a great confirmation of that theory. Surprised? Well, heres how it works. Take a look at Barack Obamas profile on business networking site, Linkedin, and you will know what the president hopeful means when he speaks of the now oft-repeated word - change.

This campaign has to be about reclaiming the meaning of citizenship, restoring our sense of common purpose, and realising that few obstacles can withstand the power of millions of voices calling for change is what he says in his profile on Linkedin.

The others in the race are not far behind. Arizona Senator, John McCain, speaks effusively about the greatness of the US as a beacon of goodwill throughout the world.

The objective is clear, which is all about putting your best foot forward. Mr McCain, for instance, outlines straight talk among his specialties. Evidently, his candidature has been endorsed quite emphatically by his running mate, Sarah Palin who has an interesting message. Addressing her fellow Americans, she exhorts them to join the cause.

Join our cause and help our country to elect a great man as the next president of the United States. And I thank you, and I - God bless you, I say, and God bless America. Thank you is the message from Mr McCain's running mate.

This is the election that has been spoken of as being among the most important in the history of the US. To that extent, promises have been made by all those who are vying for the top job. They also speak of their key achievements to date. Mr Obama elaborates on a world with fresh thinking and politics that will not settle for the lowest common denominator.

He counts on travelling to Russia to begin a new generation of securing weapons worldwide and fighting for the rights of the Veterans as his key achievements.

Likewise, Mr McCain highlights his over two-decade experience in the US Congress which includes positions like membership in the Armed Services Committee, in addition to being on the Indian Affairs Committee! Ms Palins specialties are attacking business as usual and oil companies, among other things.

Funnily enough, most of us on Linkedin are connected to these three individuals and with some luck, probably even to Bill Clinton, whose profile still reads President at White House, apart from Hillary Clinton, and George Bush as well. Clearly, social networking has no limit whatsoever.
