Nuclear safety regulatory authority bill tabled in Lok Sabha

With an eye on increasing public confidence in nuclear energy, the govt on Wednesday introduced a Bill to set up an independent nuke regulator in the LS.

NEW DELHI: With an eye on increasing public confidence in nuclear energy, the government on Wednesday introduced a Bill to set up an independent nuclear regulator in the Lok Sabha.

The Nuclear Safety Regulatory Authority Bill, 2011, will establish a legal framework to regulate nuclear and radiation safety and establish an authority to carry out the task was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The proposed regulator will replace the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board.
