NSUI holds stir, asks NDA to fulfil promise on black money

NEW DELHI: Activists of NSUI today held a stir here demanding that the Narendra Modi government fulfil its promise of bringing back black money stashed away abroad made during the 2014 Lok Sabha poll campaign.

Members of the Congress's students' wing undertook a protest march to Jantar Mantar as they sought that the prime minister put Rs 15 lakh into the bank accounts of his countrymen as he had said he would do once the black money was successfully recovered.

"Prior to the Lok Sabha elections... Modi made tall promises of bringing back black money within 100 days of coming to power, thus raising the hopes of millions of Indians," said NSUI spokesman Amrish Ranjan Pandey.

"We demand that Modi and his government deposit Rs 15 lakh in the bank accounts of the people as he had promised to bring back black money within 100 days of coming to power. The government is going to complete one year in power but it has failed to fulfil this promise," he said.

The protesters started their march from the NSUI office and distributed mock bank cheques as a mark of protest.
