A day before home minister Amit Shah’s visit to Mumbai, national security adviser Ajit Doval met Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde, deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and senior police officials in the city on Saturday.

Doval made a courtesy call to governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at the Raj Bhavan and then met Fadnavis at his official residence. He later held meetings with CM Shinde as well as director general of police Rajnish Sheth and other police officials. Shinde said Doval’s meeting with him was just a courtesy call. “He came and took Ganesh darshan at my house,” the chief

minister said. Sources said Doval discussed security-related issues with Shinde, Fadnavis and police officials. Home minister Shah is reaching Mumbai on Sunday for a two-day visit.

Apart from his official engagements, Shah is slated to have meetings with senior BJP leaders on the party’s strategy for the upcoming Mumbai civic elections.
