NRHM scam: Interim bail granted to accused

GHAZIABAD: A special CBI court has granted interim bail to former Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Small Industries Corporation, Abhay Kumar Bajpai, who was arrested in connection with alleged irregularities in utilisation of National Rural Health Mission funds.

Bajpai, who was arrested by CBI from New Delhi on January 6, was given interim bail by special CBI judge A K Singh yesterday.

CBI sources, however, said that Bajpai may be arrested again after his release from Dasna jail here, as he is an accused in three other cases related to the NRHM scam.

Of the four cases against Bajpai, three have been registered in New Delhi and one in Lucknow. Interim bail was granted in only one case.

This is the first interim bail granted to an accused in the NRHM scam.
