Guwahati: The state unit of Congress has alleged on Tuesday that all online data pertaining to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) has suddenly disappeared from the official website.

NRC authorities, however, cited the non-availability of cloud service since December 15 as the reason for disappearance of the data. NRC authorities have assured that the same will be restored shortly.

In a letter to the Registrar General and Census Commissioner and NRC co-ordinator, Debabrata Saikia , leader of the opposition in the Assam assembly said, “ I would like to draw your attention to the fact that all online data pertaining to NRC has suddenly disappeared from the NRC website. As you are aware, data pertaining to the NRC, including details regarding those included and excluded from the first final NRC, was made available online in accordance with a directive issued by the Supreme Court vide an order dated 13.08-2019. Subsequently, the relevant data was posted on the NRC website starting 14-09-2019. It is a mystery as to why the online data should vanish all of a sudden....”
