BENGALURU: Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and current chief executive Vishal Sikka on Tuesday separately paid tribute to Raghavendran Ganeshan, the Infosys employee who was killed in last week’s terror attacks in Belgian capital Brussels.

On Monday, India’s Belgian ambassador had confirmed that Ganeshan was killed during the attacks, after he went missing for nearly a week.

"Today I learnt of the heart-breaking reality of Raghavendra's demise in Brussels. Raghavendra - a young Indian, a father, a husband, a son, a brother, and an Infoscion was a victim of senseless violence,” Murthy said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Nobody anywhere in the world deserves to be cut down with such violence. I join many others in mourning his loss and pray for his child, wife, brother and parents during this extremely difficult time,” he added.

The terror attacks in Belgium last week left at least 35 people dead and well over 300 wounded, after two bomb explosions at the Brussels Airport and a metro station in the city.

On Tuesday, Sikka also paid tribute to Ganeshan and tweeted thanking everyone for the outpouring of condolences.

“A great young life extinguished far too early.. Profoundly sad at the senselessness yet thankful for the outpouring,” Sikka tweeted earlier on Tuesday.

On Monday, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted saying that Ganeshan was traveling in the same coach of the train in which the suicide bomber blew himself up.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ganeshan’s body arrived in Chennai.
