NPP, LJP extend support to BJP to form Manipur govt
With NPP and the LJP, BJP's tally will go up to 21, five short of the magic figure of 31 to form the government.

BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav on Sunday said the party will garner support and will have the numbers required to form the government in Manipur. “We have got some support and we will get requisite support from other parties to form government.
BJP won 21 seats in 60 member assembly. National People’s Party (NPP) won 4 seats while Naga Peoples Front (NPF) won 4 seats.
NPF has extended support to BJP led coalition. Trinamool congress won one seat, Lok Jan Shakti party won one seat and Independent bagged one seat. Lok Jan Shakti party has announced that it will join BJP led coalition.
Randeep Surjewala alleged that the BJP had abducted an independent MLA and taken him to Kolkata.
In tweets, Surjewala alleged that lone independent MLA Asabuddin was abducted from Imphal airport and had been taken to Kolkata. “BJP now misusing CISF and Airport authorities to detain and abduct Independent MLA, Asabuddin at Imphal, Airport and take him to Calcutta,” Surjewala tweeted.
Conrad K Sangma leader of NPP told ET, “We are discussing and till now nothing is finalised.” NPP’s support is crucial to government formation in Manipur.
Ram Madhav added, “Mandate in Manipur is against Congress.” All elected representatives will come together and support the BJP to form government.”
Congress leader from Assam, Rockybul Hussain who is camping in Manipur said, “We are exploring different possibilities and will form the government for the people have given us mandate to form the government for fourth consecutive term.”
Both Congress and BJP held party meetings on Sunday.
