NPF not to vote for UPA in Nagaland

Nagaland Peoples Front, a regional party having one Lok Sabha MP, decided not to vote for the UPA govt at the Centre during the trust vote on July 22.

KOHIMA: Nagaland Peoples Front, a regional party having one Lok Sabha MP, on Saturday decided not to vote for the UPA government at the Centre during the trust vote on July 22.

NPF president Shurho Zelie asked the lone Lok Sabha MP W Konyak to vote against UPA.

Party sources said the decision was taken because the Congress-led UPA government imposed President's Rule in the state in December 2007 ousting the "democratically-elected government" even though the regional party voted in favour of Congress candidate Pratibha Patil during the presidential election last year.

NPF runs a coalition government with the BJP in Nagaland.
