Congress takes a dig at "unwell" Pragya Thakur seen dancing in a viral video
Pragya had organised the wedding of two underprivileged women at her official residence in Bhopal. While bidding them farewell, the DJ struck up a beat and some of the guests began dancing. In the video, she is seen joining them.
She had earlier sought reprieve from court appearances in the Malegaon blast case due to ill health and hospitalisation. “Glad to know she has recovered,” tweeted MP Congress spokesperson Narendra Saluja.

— TOI Bhopal (@TOIBhopalNews) 1625813049000On Wednesday, Pragya had organised the wedding of two underprivileged women at her official residence in Bhopal. While bidding them farewell, the DJ struck up a beat and some of the guests began dancing. In the video, she is seen joining them.
The video went viral, triggering a Congress attack. “Pragya was pretending to be unwell during court proceedings in the Malegaon blast case and was bailed out. Now her active response in public events shows that she has fully recovered from the illness,” Saluja said. “Whenever we see sister Pragya playing basketball, walking unassisted or dancing, we are delighted,” he tweeted.
A few days ago, a video of her had gone around, purportedly showing her dribbling a basketball and even shooting a clean basket. Sources said the saffron leader had gone to attend a plantation event when she spotted some players practicing on a basketball court. Smiling, she went over to shoot some hoops. In the video, people around her cheer and clap as she neatly throws the ball into the net.
Pragya is an accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. In January this year, the NIA court in Mumbai had granted her exemption from physical appearance till further orders. She had appeared before the special court on January 4 and sought permanent exemption on medical and other grounds.
Pragya said that the father of the two daughters, Narmada Mishra, is a poor labourer who could not find work during lockdown and had approached her for help. “I carry different forms of myself -- including a mother, a father, a guru and a sanyasin. My blessings will always be with the two daughters and doors will remain open to help them,” she said.
