Notification issued for Rajya Sabha bypoll in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Assembly today issued a notification for bypoll for one Rajya Sabha seat which fell vacant following the demise of BJD MP Kalpataru Das.

While the process for nomination filing began today and will continue till December 3, verification of papers will be done on December 4 and the last date of withdrawal of nominations is on December 7. Polling for the lone seat is scheduled to be held on December 14.

The Upper House seat from Odisha had fallen vacant following the demise of senior BJD leader Kalpataru Das on July 25 this year.

Das's tenure as Rajya Sabha member was till April 2, 2020.
