Nothing done in budget to contain price rise: Oommen Chandy
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the BJP, which earlier criticised the UPA government on price rise, has done nothing in the budget to contain it and set aside only Rs 500 crore for price stabilisation fund.

No amount has been set aside for MNREGS, which was a matter of concern, he said in a statement, adding, only less amount was earmarked in the budget for health, food security and welfare of women.

"This is a matter of concern", he said. Except sanctioning an IIT to Kerala, the first budget of the BJP government has neglected the state, he said.

Funds were not earmarked for the Vizhinjam international container terminal, though money were set aside for 16 other ports in the country. Kerala has also been ruled out from the list of states that was to get AIIMS model centres, he said.
