Manipur's Caretaker Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that his visit to New Delhi was to review the party’s performance in recently concluded assembly polls and nothing was discussed on the choice of the new chief minister.

Biren Singh, Thongam Biswajit Singh, and state party's president A Sarda Devi returned to Imphal from New Delhi on Thursday.

Biren met central leaders including Prime minister Narendra Modi. “Who will be the next chief minister will be known after Yaoshong (Holi) after party observers come to Imphal.”

Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman and union law minister Kiren Rijiju is appointed as the observer and co- observer for Manipur.

BJP wrested 32 seats in the 60-member assembly. There are multiple contenders for the chief minister’s post.

Biren told media persons in Imphal, “BJP is a disciplined and organized party. The meeting was an election review meeting. A parliamentary board meeting was convened separately without us. That was convened with the PM and top leaders separately.”
