Noted industrialist A L Mudaliar passes away
Noted industrialist and former chairman of India Cements A L Mudaliar died here today following a kidney ailment.
Mudaliar, 87, is survived by wife, daughter and a son. He was suffering from a kidney-related ailment for the last few months and died at his home in the wee hours, his family said in a statement.
In his career spanning several decades, Mudaliar, son of the late educationist A L Mudaliar, held several responsibilities, including Chairman of Imperial Chemicals Industries Group of Companies.
After retirement from Imperial Chemicals Industries Group in 1984, he went on to head India Cements, Titan Industries, Bata India, and the Corporate Governance Rating Committee of ICRA Ltd., a statement here said.
Mudaliar had also served as the non-executive director of Hindustan Lever Ltd., The Investment Trust of India, Timex Watches, Shree Cements, Readers Digest, Bundy India among others, the statement added.
