Not nation, but Modiji is changing: Digvijaya Singh
NEW DELHI: Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' and speech at BJP's national council meeting on Sunday, Congress accused him of "miserably failing to match his own past remarks" and thus "failing people's expectations for a concrete response to Uri terror attack".

Congress also charged the PM with "serial U-turns from his stated position on Kashmir and Pakistan".

Punning on Modi's oft-repeated "desh badal raha hai" (the nation is changing) political chant, AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh said: "Desh nahi badal raha hai, lekin Modiji badal raha hai (not the nation, but Modi ji is changing)."

"Having made all kinds of statements against the Manmohan Singh regime, Modi's ongoing serial U-turns on all issues, even on Kashmir and Pakistan, only show Modi was wrong all through, his criticisms of Congress-led UPA regime were wrong, unrealistic and fake."

Maintaining that the prime minister's speech was "in conflict with the post-Uri public anger in the country", AICC spokesman Manish Tewari said: "Modi is a victim of his own defeat. He has been indulging in rhetoric. Without any knowledge of strategic geopolitics of South Asia, he kept pushing the envelope. The PM's speeches only show he has no idea of the anger among the people after the Uri attack. Also, he lacks any concrete plan for a substantive response."
