'Not morally correct for oppn to demand Raja's resignation'

CHENNAI: Union minister G K Vasan today said it was not "morally correct" for opposition parties to seek the resignation of Telecom Minister A Raja over the 2G spectrum allocation issue as the CAG report was yet to be tabled in Parliament.

"It is not morally correct for opposition parties to seek Raja's resignation when the CAG's final report is yet to be tabled in Parliament," he told reporters here.

Vasan said the opposition has been "unnecessarily" stalling the proceedings in Parliament over the issue.

On AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa's remarks asking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to sack Raja and promising "unconditional support" to the UPA government if DMK withdraws support on the issue, he said it was for UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to take a final decision on it.

"UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will make the decisions (on Jayalalithaa's offer)... No one else can talk about it..," the shipping minister said.
